On Saturday 8th April Weymouth visit Cambridgeshire to take on St Ives Town at the Pro-Edge Stadium. This will be another tough test for Weymouth as St Ives currently sit 14th in the league just 3 places below Weymouth.
Earlier this week it was announced that chairman Chris Pugsley will be stepping down at the end of the month, also Weymouth Football Club and Jason Matthews have parted company. This means that on Saturday at St Ives it will be Jason Matthews’ penultimate game in charge of the Terras. His last game is in the Dorset Senior Cup final against Gillingham Town at the Avenue Stadium on Tuesday. This therefore means it will be Jason Matthews’ last league game in charge of the Terras so he will be determined to go out on a high. It goes without saying that all the lads at UTMS wish Jason the very best for the future.
St Ives have gained seven points from their last six games whilst Weymouth have gained ten points in their last six. The Terras have gone unbeaten in nine games however they have only won two of those nine games, therefore if we had our 19th draw of the season it wouldn’t surprise me.
Weymouth have already visited the Pro-Edge stadium this season where they took on Cambridge City. In that game the Terras lost 2-1 with Stuart Fleetwood getting Weymouth’s only goal of the evening. Weymouth played St Ives back in December and drew 1-1 with Stuart Fleetwood getting Weymouth’s only goal of the afternoon.
This is the penultimate league away game for the Terras and I’m looking forward to it. Josh and Ryan are venturing in the realms of London for a night out before the match and then they are going to St Ives in the morning. I will be joining them there making it 3 loyal UTMS members, I hope they have a good night beforehand.
This weeks podcast will also be up this evening, be sure to check it out!
Come on you Terras!
