Match Preview | Merthyr Town v Weymouth

Cameron Lawrence |

On Saturday 11th March the Terras travel to Wales to face Merthyr Town at Penydarren Park for a tie that’s not going to be easy. The teams last met back in November as the Martyrs picked up a 0-1 win in a very boring tie at the Bob Lucas Stadium. The fireworks afterwards were much more exciting.
Merthyr currently sit 4th in the Southern Premier League on 72 points. They’ve been a tough side to beat at home, only losing one game all season. Their last match was a 5-2 win against Biggleswade Town, this shows that they can score goals but also that they concede them.

It’s an early start for us Weymouth fans, that aren’t staying overnight, as we’re catching the 6:38 train to Merthyr so let’s hope the players put on a good performance.

I’ve stepped up my game for this weeks Draw Specialist as we drew Charlie Davis, here’s my masterpiece…

Unfortunately my effort didn’t win, Charlie Davis picked Dank as this weeks winner and Billy Lowes (Josh Barton) as the next victim, get ready Josh!

The Terras come into this game off the back of a 3-2 win at home to Kettering Town , what a great comeback that was so let’s hope we can let that kick start a run of form. However, we’ve said that enough times this season. The players are going to have to be at their best to get anything against Merthyr despite this, the current Weymouth side have proved that they’re capable of many great things on their day.

Don’t forget to check out this weeks podcast as Ben ‘Split his trousers’ live on the podcast, very unlucky for Ben.

And here’s another beautiful image of Dan MacDonald as he goes into battle.
